Transfer in 3 Easy Steps
Keeping your number shouldn't be complicated. Here's how simple it is.
- 1Check Your Number
- Enter your phone number above and we'll instantly check if it's eligible to transfer to Parrot Mobile.
- 2Pick a Plan
- Choose a flexible, contract-free plan that fits your life. Your number will already be attached - just pick and go.
- 3We Handle the Switch
- Complete checkout with your account details and we'll coordinate the transfer with your old carrier. Your old service stays active until the switch is done.
What You'll Need at Checkout
Gather these before you start. It takes about 5 minutes and prevents most delays.
Your Account Number
Found on your monthly bill or in your carrier's app. This is NOT your phone number - it's the account ID your current carrier uses.
Your Transfer PIN
A special security code (NOT your voicemail PIN). Most carriers let you generate one in their app or by texting a short code. It expires after a few days, so grab it close to when you're ready.
Billing Name & ZIP Code
The name and ZIP code exactly as they appear on your old account. Abbreviations and apartment numbers matter - match them precisely.
Leaving a family plan? You'll need the primary account holder's details and they may need to generate the Transfer PIN for you.
Common Questions
- Will I lose service during the transfer?
- No. Your old service stays fully functional - calls, texts, data - right up until the moment your number lands on Parrot Mobile. There's no dead zone.
- How long does it take?
- Mobile-to-mobile transfers typically finish in minutes to a few hours. VoIP and landline numbers take 3-10 business days because they go through a different system - but your old service keeps working the entire time.
- Does transferring cost anything?
- Nope. The FCC bars carriers from charging a dedicated porting fee, and Parrot Mobile doesn't charge to bring your number in. You may still owe your old carrier for any remaining balance.
- Can I transfer any US number?
- Almost always. The main exceptions are numbers in areas your new carrier doesn't serve, or rare rural providers with an FCC waiver. Our checker will tell you instantly.
- Should I cancel my old service first?
- Absolutely not. Let the transfer complete first. Canceling early can release your number back into the public pool, making it very difficult to recover. Once the transfer finishes, your old account closes automatically.
